The Adamawa State government has debunked claims that it denied the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Aishatu Binani, access to the Mahmud Ribadu Square.
There had been reports that Binani had been denied use of the venue for the kick-off of her governorship campaign on Monday, forcing her to make alternate arrangements.
However, the State Government, in, a press statement by the governor's press secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, said the APC had got approval to use the venue.
Professor Maxwell Gidado (SAN), Chief of Staff, to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, also addressed journalists, on the matter on Sunday and said, the state government, had at no time denied APC the use of the Ribadu Square for its campaign.
He said, "The state APC, Presidential Campaign Council, PCC wrote to us and said the president is coming on 9th January. They said they can't see the president, coming on 9th and returning back on the 18th, January, so the campaign is likely going to be a joint event and we gave them the venue.
"Now, the story, is that Binani, the APC candidate, is still insisting, she's not going to allow the President to go into the Ribadu square. But, would, go ahead to hold the APC rally, at the alternate location. But we want to extricate ourselves, and let the whole world know that we gave them approval. So, if she wants to play politics, by refusing the use of Ribadu Square, it is left to the APC."
