Job
Overview
- The Store Officer is responsible
for managing the organization's inventory and overseeing the efficient
operation of the storeroom or warehouse.
- The primary objective is to ensure
proper stock management, timely issuance of materials, and accurate
record-keeping to support the smooth functioning of the organization.
Duties and
Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of all
incoming and outgoing materials.
- Implement inventory control
measures to reduce waste and minimize stock losses.
- Regularly update inventory
databases and software systems.
- Monitor stock levels and reorder
materials when necessary to avoid shortages.
- Conduct regular stock audits to
reconcile physical stock with records.
Receiving and
Inspection:
- Receive incoming shipments and
verify the quantity and quality of items received.
- Inspect and check for damages or
discrepancies in delivered goods.
- Collaborate with suppliers and
internal teams to resolve any issues related to deliveries.
Issuance and
Distribution:
- Fulfill internal requisitions and
issue materials to different departments.
- Ensure proper documentation of
material issuance and maintain accurate records.
- Monitor consumption patterns and
advise on optimal stock levels for different items.
Storage and
Organization:
- Arrange materials in designated
storage areas in an organized and accessible manner.
- Follow proper stacking and labeling
procedures to facilitate easy retrieval.
- Ensure compliance with safety
regulations for handling hazardous materials, if applicable.
Vendor Management:
- Maintain good relationships with
suppliers and negotiate favorable terms for procurement.
- Source new suppliers and conduct
periodic vendor assessments for quality and reliability.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare regular reports on
inventory levels, consumption trends, and stock movement.
- Analyze data to identify areas for
improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide reports to management for
decision-making and strategic planning.
Team Coordination:
- Collaborate with various
departments to understand their material needs and provide support.
- Coordinate with purchasing,
finance, and other teams to ensure smooth material flow.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with company
policies and procedures related to store operations.
- Adhere to health and safety
guidelines in handling materials and maintaining the store.
Qualifications and
Requirements
- OND or equivalent; additional
education or certifications in Inventory Management or related fields is a
plus.
- Proven experience as a Store
Officer or similar role in inventory management.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in
record-keeping.
- Good communication and
interpersonal skills for vendor and team coordination.
- Proficient in using inventory
management software and computer skills.
- Strong organizational and
time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and
handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Salary
N50,000 - N60,000 Monthly.
