The Bank of
Industry (BOI) has announced the extension of the application for the Rural
Area Program for Investment and Development (RAPID) for Micro Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSMEs) and Community groups in rural areas to June 12.
This was
disclosed in a post on the official X handle of the bank where it explained
that the extension of the deadline was to allow entrepreneurs the opportunity
to apply for the loan.
It states, “The application deadline for the RAPID initiative has been extended to June 12, 2024, allowing all interested entrepreneurs the opportunity to participate.”
What is the RAPID Programme About?
The Rural Area Programme on Investment for Development (RAPID) is an initiative by the Bank of Industry (BOI) aimed at fostering sustainable development, job creation, and economic empowerment in rural communities throughout Nigeria.
It provides financial support, business advisory services, and training programs to rural entrepreneurs, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Who is eligible to apply for the RAPID
Programme?
Duly registered Business Names (Enterprises) and Cooperative Societies operating in rural or economically disadvantaged areas of Nigeria are eligible to apply. Other businesses may be considered under special circumstances.
What types of businesses does RAPID
support?
RAPID shall provide support in value-adding activities excluding trading and primary agriculture. These include activities in manufacturing, agribusiness, processing, and other ventures contributing to economic diversification and job creation in rural areas.
What financial support does RAPID provide?
Beneficiaries would be eligible for a loan of a maximum of N10 million which can be utilized for asset and raw material finance.
What is the security requirement for RAPID?
- A charge on the assets of the business serves as security for the facility.
- Personal Guarantee of the Chief Promoter of the business/President of the Cooperative.
- One (1) external guarantor of the Beneficiary for loans up to N5 million. Two (2) external guarantors of the Beneficiary for loans above N5 million.
In addition, the following documentations should be provided:
- NIN and BVN of the Chief Promoter(s)/President of the Cooperative and the Guarantor(s)
- Four passport photographs of the Chief Promoter(s)/ President of the Cooperative and the Guarantor(s)
- Valid means of identification (International Passport, Driver’s License, National Identity Card, or Permanent Voter’s Card) of the Chief Promoter(s)/President of the Cooperative and the Guarantor(s)
- Notarized/Sworn statement of net worth of the Guarantor(s) (form issued by BOI)
- Credit Life / Key Man Insurance on the Chief Promoter of the Enterprise/ President of the Cooperative taken throughout the duration of the loan stating BOI as first loss payee in line with BOI’s credit policy.
- Executed Global Standing Instruction (GSI) Mandate.
How can I apply for the RAPID Programme
Applicants can apply online through the RAPID loan application portal (www.rapid.boi.ng) or submit completed application documentation physically at BOI State Offices especially in remote areas with limited internet access.
