NDLEA arrests Saudi-bound widow with cocaine in footwears at Lagos airport

A 56-year-old widow and mother of four, Mrs. Ajisegiri Kehinde Sidika has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug LawEnforcement Agency , NDLEA at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos over her attempt to traffic 400grams of cocaine concealed in her footwear to Makkah, Saudi Arabia.   The suspect who claims to be a businesswoman trading in adults and childrens wears on Lagos Island was intercepted on Sunday 13th November while trying to board a Qatar Airways flight going to Saudi Arabia via Doha. Upon a critical examination of the pair of sandals she was wearing, two parcels of cocaine weighing 400grams were recovered from them.   In the same vein, attempts by a tricycle parts seller, Ayoade Kehinde Tayo to send 1kg of Tramadol 225mg and Rohypnol to Istanbul, Turkey via Cairo on an Egypt Airline flight same day were also frustrated by NDLEA operatives who arrested him. Cyber-fraud: Seventeen Fraudsters Convicted in Oyo, Ogun States

The Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction andsentencing of seventeen internet fraudsters before Justices Bayo Taiwo, Ladoke Akintola, and Mohammed Owolabi of the State High Court, Ibadan, Oyo State and Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu of Ogun State High Court, Abeokuta, on a separate one count charge each. The jail terms range from two to nine months community service, and one year in prison. The convicts are Oduola Kunmi Ireola, Igbamidun Joshua Olamiposi, Ismael Fatai Olatunji, Osundele Oladapo Daniel, Olawale Isaac Adeleke, Olorunyomi Idowu Babatunde, Aneh Ojonimi, Olaide Iyanuoluwa Sadare, Akintola Babatunde Rasheed, Jamiu Babatunde Salam, Aluko Abayomi Oluwadamilare, Bello Ridwan Ayobami, Maleek Michael Ibrahim, Arasi Oluwaseun Tobi, Ganiu Fawaz Olalekan, Bello Ayoinde Olamilekan and Abiodun Taiwo Kareem. N700m Diezani Cash: EFCC Re-arraigns Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, Others

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday November 21, 2022 re-arraigned a former governor of Kaduna State, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero before Justice R.M Aikawa of the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna on an eight count amended charges bordering on money laundering . The re- arraignment is sequel to the transfer of the former trial judge, Justice M.G Umar, from the State. Yero is being prosecuted by the EFCC alongside Nuhu Somo Wya (a former minister), Ishaq Hamsa (a former Secretary to Kaduna State Government) and Abubakar Gaiya Haruna (a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state) for their alleged involvement in the receipt and disbursement of the sum of N700 million paid to them by a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke to influence the outcome of the 2015 presidential election. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, November 21, 2022, secured the final forfeiture of the sum of N775,000,000.00, (Seven Hundred and Seventy-five Million Naira), and three properties located at No. 8 Ajay Crowther Street, Asokoro, Abuja; a Plot of land at Plot 1960 Cadastral Zone A05 Maitama District, FCT, Abuja; a Hotel which is under construction with generating set, located at Plot 621, Road 37, Gwarimpa, FCT, Abuja and a twin 4 bedroom duplex with guard quarters located at Plot 736, 7th Avenue Gwarimpa, FCT, Abuja, before Justice D.U. Okorowo of the Federal High Court, Abuja. Internet Fraudster Musa Shaka Bags Three Years Imprisonment in Benin

The Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, November 21, 2022 secured the conviction of one Musa Shaka before Justice M. Itsueli of Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City. Shaka was arraigned on one count charge bordering on possession of fraudulent documents. The charge against him reads: “that you, MUSA SHAKA (M) on or about the 25 day of October 2021 in Benin City, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court had in your possession in your Vivo V2026 mobile phone documents containing false pretence with different subjects which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 6 and 8 (b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act”. The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him in court. In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, I.M Elodi prayed the court to convict and sentence the defendant accordingly.

I’m a mythologist; Don't Need Any Religion - Wole Soyinka Declares

Nobel Prize-winning author, Wole Soyinka, has stated that he does not have a need for any religion and does not worship any deity. He said at the public presentation of his two-volume collection of essays on Sunday. According to PMNews, Soyinka admitted that he is a mythologist and also believes that people have a right to create myths around themselves based on their experiences. He said, “Do I really need one (religion)? I have never felt I needed one. I am a mythologist. I believe that people have a right and cannot help creating mythologies around themselves, around their experiences about what they project from the inner recesses of their minds as answers to questions. “And so I find nothing wrong with utilising mythologies as part and parcel of my creative warehouse. "But religion? No I don’t worship any deity. But I consider deities as creatively real and therefore my companions in my journey in both the real world and the imaginative world.” Who is a mythologist?
