UPDATE ON THE ACHIEVEMENTS RECORDED BY THE KANO STATE POLICE COMMAND FROM 10TH NOVEMBER, 2022 TO DATE

*30 Days in Kano: CP Rolls Out Contacts of All Police Divisions, Area Commands, Tactical Units and the Command's Control Room for Intelligence Sharing, Rapid Response to Distress Calls, etc to ease Communication and Reaching Out to the Police*

This Press Release is to update you on the successes recorded by the Kano State Police Command in its effort in fighting all forms of crime and criminality. In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR on Community-based Policing, Operation Restore Peace, ensuring watertight security and round-the-clock visibility patrol, Kano State Police Command under the leadership of CP Mamman Dauda, psc(+) re-strategizes for effective service delivery.


2. From 10th November 2022, when CP Mamman Dauda, psc(+) assumed duty as the 44th Commissioner of Police of Kano State to date, i.e. for thirty (30) days, tremendous achievements have been recorded by the Kano State Police Command. 4. The Commissioner of Police appreciates the good people of Kano State for their understanding, continuous support, encouragement and cooperation. He urged residents to continue to pray for the State, the Nation and report incidents to the nearest Police Station, and not take laws into their hands. Raids of criminal hideouts and black spots will continue to complement Operation Restore Peace as the Command will sustain the tempo in ensuring the safety of the State. Thank you and God bless. 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          DETAILS OF MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS RECORDED BY KANO STATE POLICE COMMAND FROM 10/11/2022 TO 10/12/2022


1. ARREST OF SUSPECTED DRUG DEALERS AND RECOVERY OF ILLICIT DRUGS:- on 2nd December 2022 at about 0340hrs, a team of operatives attached to Gezawa Division, raided a black spot at Danja Village, Gezawa LGA, Kano State, one Suleman Mohammed alias ‘’Danmalan’’, aged 48 years old together with his business Manager by name Ibrahim Isa, aged 30 years old, all ‘m’ of the same village, notorious and renowned  Indian Helm dealers were arrested. Two Hundred and Seventy-Five (275) Parcels and Three (3) Sacks of suspected Indian Hemp were recovered. An investigation is in progress. 


2. ARREST OF SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF ADULTERATED HONEY:- On 28th November 2022 at about 1000hrs, a team of Operation Restore Peace attached to Special Operation Squad, while on a routine patrol at Bata Area, Kano State, arrested one Nura Abdullahi, aged 26 years old and Sani Muhammad, aged 30 years old, all ‘m’ of Kaleko Village, Dawakin Tofa LGA, Kano State in possession of five, Twenty-Five (25) litres of fake Honey and a bucket. On interrogation, the suspects confessed to having adulterated the fake Honey with Sugar. An investigation is in progress.


3. ARREST OF SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF ILLICIT DRUGS:- On 27th November 2022 at about 1930hrs, a team of Operation Restore Peace attached to Special Operation Squad, while on a routine patrol at Sabon Gari Quarters Kano arrested one Olisa Eze ‘m’ of Bama Raod, in possession of Nineteen (19) Packets of suspected Rubber solution that is used for intoxication. An investigation is in progress.


4. ARREST OF SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF DANGEROUS WEAPONS:- On 27th November 2022 at about 1300hrs, a team of Policemen attached to Special Operation Squad while on a routine patrol at Brigade Quarters, Kano arrested one Abdullahi Musa, ‘m’, aged 30 years old of Brigade Quarters Kano. Two dangerous weapons were recovered from him. The suspect has been charged to court for prosecution.


5. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS:- On 26th November 2022 at about 2130hrs, one Abubakar Mainasara, ‘m’, of Gwammaja Quarters, reported that one Ahmed Ibrahim Dogo, ‘m’, aged 20 years old, Aminu Abubakar, ‘m’, aged 19 years old and Abubakar Rabiu alias Foka, ‘m’, aged 19 years old, now arrested, conspired with one other and Ta’ofeek Oduduwa, ‘m’, now at large, blocked the complainant at  Kofar Ruwa Quarters, with a Toyota Motor Vehicle, Sharon, blue in colour, Reg. Number yet unknown, attacked him with a knife and robbed him the sum of Eight Hundred, Ten Thousand Naira (N810,000.00) cash. An investigation is in progress.


6.  KIDNAPPING AND RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIMS/: On 22nd November 2022 at about 1400hrs, one Umar A. Musa ‘m’, a staff of Ayman Agricultural Company reported that his staff one Jamilu Bello and one (1) other person were held hostage at their excavation Site, Sabon Garin Danbagina village Kano State by some villagers. On receipt of the report, a team of Policemen immediately mobilized to the scene. However, the miscreants blocked the road with logs of Wood and resisted the Police from the entrance, in the process, they attacked the Police. Victims were rescued and nine (9) suspects were arrested. An investigation is in progress.


7. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT AND RECOVERY OF ARM AND AMMUNITION: On 19th November 2022, a report was received that suspected Armed Robbers attacked Unguwar Yakubu Village, Tashar Nalumi, Bebeji LGA Kano State. A combined team of Policemen and local vigilantes were dispatched to the scene. one Suleiman Musa 'm' of Damaga village, Tudun Wada, LGA, Kano State trapped was arrested, and an AK-47 Rifle with twenty (20) rounds of live ammunition was recovered from him. He was rushed to Tiga General Hospital where he died while receiving treatment on 20/11/2022. An investigation is in progress. 


8. ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY/THEFT AND RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE:- On 16th November 2022 at about 2030hrs, a report received at  Gezawa Division that, a team of Policemen at a routine patrol at Danja Village, Gezawa LGA, Kano State, suspected some persons pushing a Hiject Motor Vehicle with Reg. NOL XA 248 YLA, in the process, one Yushau Musa, ‘m’, of Badawa Quarters Kano was arrested with the Vehicle, while others took to their heels. On investigation, the suspect confessed that they came from Kano City to the Village to steal the Vehicle, after they gathered information. The owner was later identified. The case is under investigation.


9. ARMED ROBBERY/ARREST OF SUSPECT:- On 15th November 2022 at about 1133hrs, a good Samaritan reported that one Yahaya Adamu, ‘m’, aged 22 years old of Brigade Quarters Nassarawa, LGA, Kano State, was attacked with a knife at Farin Massallachi by Sardauna Crescent by two (2) hoodlums, who were later identified by name as Abubakar Yushau and Fahad, all ‘m’ of Unguwar Gaya Quarters, Kano. As a result, the victim sustained deep cuts on both hands and the hoodlums made away with his Mobile Phone, Techno Spark-2. The scene was visited, and the victim was rushed to Sir Sunusi Specialist Hospital for treatment, where he was treated and discharged. However, one of the suspects Abubakar Yushau was arrested. An effort is being intensified to arrest the other fleeing suspect.


10. ARREST OF SUSPECTED CAR THIEVES AND RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLES:- On 13th November 2022, one Hamza Abdulwahab ‘M’ of Kurna Qtrs. Kano reported that on the 9th of November 2022 at about 0230hrs, a group of armed robbers trespassed into his house and attempted to rob him, but were not successful. On receipt of the report, a team of Operation Restore Peace led by CSP Alabi Lateef swung into action, where one Abdullahi Hamisu, ‘m,’ aged 37 years old, of Dutsinma, Katsina state and one Hudu Ali ‘M’ aged 57 years, of lambar kundir Kano, were arrested. The suspects confessed to having conspired with three others. They also led the operatives to Danbatta LGA Kano State to the arrest of; Aminu Mohd, ‘m’ aged 32 years (2) Yusuf Abdullahi ‘m’ aged 28 years, (3) Samir Abdullahi ‘m’ aged 27 years old possession of the following Motor Vehicle; (1) silver colour Peugeot 307 model motor vehicle with registration No. LSD 507 FM, (2) Dark green Volkswagen, (3) Golf Saloon with registration No. KMC 911 LK, suspected to be stolen, fabricated keys and an iron cutler were also found in their possession. An investigation is in progress.


11. ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RECOVERY OF FOUR LOCALLY MADE GUNS:- On 13/11/2022  at about 1120hrs, while acting on credible information, one Abdulsalam Usman, ‘m', aged 26 years old of Unguwar Maibiri Village, Kankara LGA, Katsina State and Nasiru Inusa, 'm', aged 35 years old of Kago Village, Soba LGA, Kaduna State were arrested along Kano-Katsina border, Rogo LGA,  Kano State in possession of Four (4) Locally made fabricated Guns concealed in a Sack intending to cross the border to Katsina State. An investigation is in progress.


12. ARREST OF MOBILE PHONES SNATCHERS AND RECOVERY OF TWO OPERATIONAL TRICYCLES: - On the 13th November 2022 at about 1000hrs, based on credible information, one Abdulmajid Ashiru, ‘m’ 19 years old of Gama Quarters, Kano and (2) Aminu Bilal, ‘m’, aged 21 years old of Brigade Quarters. Kano in connection with a case of a series of phone snatching used a Tricycle with a registration number KMC 29 VF and KAROTA No. 6257 as their operational Tricycle. On spot search, one Mobile Phone suspected to be stolen was recovered from them. On investigation, the suspects confessed to a series of phone snatching within Kano metropolitan. On the 15th November 2022, the suspects led detectives and arrested one Sani Adamu, Zubairu Muhammad and Sani Muhammad, all ‘m’ of different addresses, their syndicate members and an additional Tricycle with registration No. GML 669 VD which is also used in their operations was also recovered. Three additional smartphones were recovered. A discreet investigation is in progress.


13. ARREST OF SUSPECTED CAR THIEVES AND RECOVERY OF MOTOR VEHICLES SUSPECTED TO BE STOLEN: - On the 16th November 2022 at about 0300hrs, the Anti-crime patrol team, attached to this Anti-Car Theft of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department led by Insp. Sagir Ahmad, while on routine patrol along Hadejia Road by Yankaba Motor Park, Kano, intercepted one silver colour Sonata 2012 model Motor Vehicle, with registration number, KWC 933 SU driven by one Abdul-Rahman and two others. On spot search, the following items were recovered from them, (1) A universal Brain Box, (2) 20 different car keys (3) fabricated/master keys and (4) sensor keys. On investigation, the suspects led to the recovery of another Matrix Toyota Motor vehicle Ash in colour from Kaduna State. The suspects confessed to having stolen the Motor Vehicle from Jigawa State. An investigation is in progress.


14. ARREST OF SUSPECTED CAR THIEVES AND RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE:- In continuation of a case of stolen motor vehicle reported on the 10th November 2022, where a security guard, one Sani Abdullahi ‘M’ of Rahama Round Bebeji L.G.A Kano stole away a Honda Accord Motor Vehicle 2013 model with Reg. No. SML 271 MM. The security guard as well as his accomplices; Musa Sani ‘M’ and Ali Hassan Yasir ‘M’ of Hotoro and Mundubawa Quarters respectively was arrested at Zuba town Abuja, FCT. The Motor Vehicle was recovered. Suspects have been charged to court for prosecution. 


15. ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER:- On 10th November 2022 at about 1500hrs, a resident of Rijiyar Zaki reported that sometime in October 2022, his brother of Gwammaja Quarters, Kano State, a commercial driver, while on transit from Funtua LGA, Katsina State to Kebbi State, was kidnapped by unknown hoodlums and kept him under captivity for Twelve (12) days, he was eventually released after a ransom was paid. He further stated that on 08/11/2022 at about 1445hrs, he sighted one of the kidnappers of his brother, who collected the ransom from him at Rijiyar Zaki Motor Park, Kano State, boarding a commercial Motor Vehicle heading to Faskari town. On receipt of the report, Operation Restore Peace attached to the Rijiyar Zaki Division was swiftly mobilized to the scene. The suspect was arrested and confessed to a series of Culpable Homicides and Kidnapping. An investigation is in progress.


16. ARMED BANDIT NEUTRALIZED AND AN AK- 47 RIFLE RECOVERED:- On 10/11/2022 at about 0400hrs, a report was received that, some armed men stormed the residence of one Jibrin Abdullahi Babangida Mai Fulani, 'm', aged 46yrs old at Babange village, shot him in the chest. On receipt of the report, a team of policemen attached the to Kwanar Dangora Division immediately rushed to the scene. On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums opened fire on them, one of the Policemen gallantly returned superior firepower, and as such one of the armed bandits was neutralized and an AK-47 Rifle was recovered on the spot.  The victim was quickly rushed to Kwankwaso Hospital but was certified dead by a Medical Doctor on duty. The corpse was deposited at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano for autopsy. An investigation is in progress.


17. RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTORCYCLE:- On 10/11/2022, in continuation of a case reported on 08/11/2022 by one Tasiu Hamza ‘m’’ of Kwana Taya quarters, Kano State, that, one Rabi'u Yusif, ‘m’, of Dala Quarters Kano,  conspired with one Nafsun Zakiyya ‘m’, of the same address, went to his residence at Kwanar Taya, used a master key and stole away his Motobi Motorcycle, Ash in colour, Reg. No DAL 630 QB, valued at Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N250,000:00). The said Rabiu Yusif was arrested with the Motorcycle and a master key was recovered in his possession while trying to escape. The suspect was charged to court for prosecution.


18. ARREST OF SUSPECTED CAR THIEVES AND RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLES: - In continuation with a case of an attempt to commit theft at Bompai Quarters kano reported, where one Saminu Sa’idu, ‘m’, of Daura, Katsina State was arrested, ON THE 10/11/2022, the said suspect led detectives, to the arrest of the following suspects, (1) Ashiru Muhammad ‘M’ aged 40 years (2) Abdullahi Gwamna ‘M’ aged 62 years (3) Danjuma Ladan ‘M’ aged 40 years of Kano and Bauchi States respectively, (4) Tukur Ahmad, ‘m’, of Kazaure town, Jigawa state, and recovery of two suspected stolen motor vehicles; (1) Toyota Corolla 1998 model, (2) CARINA 2 dark ash in colour with registration No. AE 462 FUN.  Suspects further led detectives to Yobe State and a motorcycle was also recovered. An investigation is in progress.


19. ARREST OF TRICYCLES THIEVES RECOVERY OF STOLEN TRICYCLES:- A report was received that some group of youth on different occasions impersonated or presented themselves as security agencies, and deceitfully snatched the tricycles from victims with many complaints lodges investigation led to the arrest of the following suspects; (1) Salisu Isah 31years (2) Tasi’u Mohd 25years (3) Mubarak Mubarak 25years all ‘m’ of Dey Dey, Abuja. (4) Nura Bala ‘m’ aged 32 years of Suleja, and the recovery of the following Tricycles. (1) Tricycle Bajaj, Registration No. GAK 763 QA, and (2) Tricycle, Reg. No. MKK 522 OA, KAROTA No. 0032 SNN. Owners of the Tricycles were identified and suspects were charged to court for prosecution.


20. ARREST OF SUSPECTED DRUG DEALER/RECOVERY OF ILLICIT DRUGS: Based on credible information, a team of operatives arrested one Rueben Posat, 'm', 45yrs old of Burma road, Sabon Gari quarters, Kano State in possession of Two Hundred and Eighty-Eight (288) Packets of suspected Tramadol Tablets, each packet contained 100mg pieces and Ten (10) Cartons of Rubber Solutions each carton contained One Thousand, Two Hundred (1200) pieces. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he is a transporter, who received and delivers goods to the owners.  Accomplices were also arrested. All suspects are charged to court for prosecution.


21. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERS THAT SPECIALIZED IN ROBBING COMPANIES AND WAREHOUSES:- Based on credible information, a team of Operatives, arrested one  Lawal Yakubu Dattijo, 'm', aged 25 years old of Gezawa LGA, Kano State, Muftahu Ibrahim, 'm', aged 24 years old, Ibrahim Muhammad, 'm', 25 years old, Hussaini Hassan, ‘m', aged 22 years old and Mustapha Muhammad, 'm', 23 years old, along Ibrahim Taiwo road, Kano State. On investigation, the suspects confessed to having been involved in a series of Armed Robberies within the Gezawa area and Kano Metropolis, including the recent Armed Robbery in the Warehouse of one Yakubu Iliya 'm' at Sharada Quarters, Kano State, where Twenty (20) Sacks of women Wrappers were robbed and that of the Warehouse of one Abdullahi Ibrahim, 'm', were they attacked the security guard and tied them with rope, robbed them Thirty (30) Bags of Rice. On investigation, the suspects led operatives to the recovery Twenty Four (24) Bags of Rice and Six (6) Sacks of Wrappers from their receivers.  An effort is being intensified to arrest other suspects at large and recover the remaining items.
